Power Transformer
The classification of commonly used transformers can be summarized as follows:
1, according to the number of phases:
1) Single-phase transformer: used for single-phase load and three-phase transformer group.
2) Three-phase transformer: used for the rise and fall of three-phase systems.
2, according to the cooling method:
1) Dry transformers: rely on air convection for natural cooling or increase fan cooling, mostly used in high-rise buildings, high-speed toll stations and electricity and local lighting, electronic lines and other small capacity transformers.
2) Oil-immersed transformer: relying on oil as the cooling medium, such as oil-immersed self-cooling, oil-immersed air cooling, oil-immersed water cooling, forced oil circulation,
Introduction to the Production Process of Dry-Type Transformers
The manufacturing process of dry-type transformers primarily revolves around "oil-free, insulation, and design," with core steps including:
1. Coil Winding
Low-voltage coils
Typically made of copper foil or layer-wound copper wire to enhance conductivity and mechanical strength.
High-voltage coils
Mostly wound with copper wire, adopting segmented or continuous structures to ensure insulation and heat dissipation performance.
Insulation materials
Polyester films, Nomex paper, or epoxy prepreg materials are used for interlayer insulation.
2. Insulation Treatment
Impregnation process
Coils are impregnated with epoxy or silicone resin to improve moisture resistance and heat resistance (applicable to impregnated dry-type transformers).
Vacuum casting
Coils in molds are vacuumed and filled with epoxy resin, which cures to form an integrated insulation layer (a standard process for cast-resin dry-type transformers).
3. Core Assembly
High-permeability silicon steel sheets are laminated with mitered joints to minimize magnetic reluctance and no-load loss, and the core is insulated with paint to prevent rust and eddy current losses.
4. Curing and Molding
Cast-resin transformers require curing in high-temperature ovens to ensure bubble-free and uniform resin solidification.
Impregnated types undergo multiple impregnation and drying cycles to enhance insulation strength.
5. Testing and Quality Inspection
Routine tests
Include turns ratio testing, DC resistance measurement, and power-frequency withstand voltage tests (e.g., 35kV class must withstand 70kV).
Type tests
Partial discharge testing (typically required ≤10pC), temperature rise tests (coil temperature rise not exceeding 100K), and short-circuit withstand capability tests.
6. Surface Treatment and Protection
Weather-resistant coatings are applied (e.g., IP20 for indoor use, IP23 for drip protection).
Protective enclosures or fans are installed (for forced-air-cooled models).
