The vacuum circuit breaker is mainly used in 10-35 kV power system, which can operate frequently and continuously break the rated current more than 10,000 times, and can also break dozens or even hundreds of times continuously at the rated short circuit. It can be used for protection and control of electrical equipment in industrial and mining enterprises, power plants and substations. The basic structure consists of a vacuum interrupter (vacuum switch tube), an insulating support and an operating mechanism. [1] It has the advantages of small size, light weight, frequent operation and no maintenance, and is widely used in distribution network.

 

Vacuum circuit breaker is a circuit breaker that uses vacuum as an arc extinguishing medium, and its working principle mainly includes four steps: disconnection, arc extinguishing, separation and recovery. Under normal circumstances, a low-voltage area is formed between the two contacts of the vacuum circuit breaker, and the conductivity is very low. When an overcurrent or overvoltage occurs, the low-voltage region is instantly ionized, forming an arc and absorbing energy, and as the current gradually decreases, the low-voltage region will also re-form, leaving a tiny crater on the metal surface next to it. Since there are almost no gas molecules in the vacuum environment, both the temperature of the arc and the fluctuation of the voltage have only a minimal effect, making it better able to support the transient currents of high power systems. The main function of the vacuum circuit breaker is to disconnect or switch the current in the transmission line to protect the normal operation and safety of the power system. It can also be used to maintain the interconnection and crossing of load power sources in the power system.
